Tactical Shotgun
This course has been designed with the needs of the law enforcement officer, 3 gunner and hunter in mind. We will offer instruction in the use of the shotgun in these varied environments with a strong focus on safe manipulation, loading/unloading, proper fundamentals and accuracy.
Due to the various ammunition selections available, shotgunners on this course will receive individual knowledge of their personal shotgun regarding patterning, accuracy, limitations.
Topics covered will include:
•Firearms/Range safety and etiquette.
•Shotgun set up and parts
•Ammunition selection and carriage
•Patterning and slug work
•Shotgun specific fundamentals
•Recoil management
•Loads and reloads/ ammunitions switch-ups
•Positional shooting
•Shooting on the move
•Shooting from awkward positions.
•Care and feeding!
Requirements:
•Eye and Ear protection, baseball cap
•Reliable firearm
•Chest rig or belt mounted pouches that can carry extra shells
•200 birdshot (7 ½ or
25 buckshot, 25 slugs
•Clothing suitable for inclement weather
•Sunscreen
•For service members (LEO, MIL Private Security), you may wish to use your duty gear or load bearing equipment including body armour.
•Lunch, hydrating fluids and snacks
•Booboo kit (band-aids, surgical tape, chapstick, etc)
•Cleaning gear
•Suggested: Notepad and pen, elbow and/or knee pads
