TV STATION WARNS HUNTING SHOW MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN: We all love our Saturday hunting and fishing shows – they provide wholesome entertainment and reflect our Canadian heritage. Odd then, that CTV Saskatoon displayed a warning prior to an elk hunting program on the weekend. On a bright red background, the screen warned, “This program may not be suitable for young children.” Oh, really? How could our children be traumatized by watching patient, skilful hunters tracking elk downwind across southern Alberta? The hunters showed utmost respect for nature and wildlife as they taught others how to feed themselves – it is where sport meets art. The only traumatic portion of the show was the warning itself. Once again, the media refuses to recognize the difference between the shooting sports and violence.

The "media" is usually misinformed about and incompetent with firearms or hunting. It is 100% prejudice made worse by a narrow-minded attitude. All in all, it is the pervasive attitude toward firearms in Canada.

It really sucks to be a shooter and "lover of arms" in Canada. The USA nextdoor and even Europe has a positive firearms culture, with plenty of gun shows, competitions, meets, etc, etc.

The Canadians have not "suffered" enough through wars and various conflicts to realize the value of firearms and people who are competent in their use.
