PROTECTING BIG BIZ IN NEW YORK: Assembly Republican leader Brian Kolb is pushing for New York to work with gun manufacturers to retain thousands of jobs. The minority leader from Canandaigua wants the Cuomo administration to direct its regional economic councils at helping keep the state's remaining firearms makers. Many of the companies remain in western New York and the Finger Lakes Region where some of the nation's larger firearms manufacturers had once been located. Gov. Andrew Cuomo's regional economic councils are seeking ideas from within the regions that utilize local assets in a competition for $1 billion in tax breaks and other economic development benefits.
